I set goals throughout the year to help me be the best wife I can be and I also set personal goals to help me be the best me I can be. I’m big on goals, they’re like a to do list with things I can complete and cross off and I love it! For a few months now I’ve been wanting to set goals as a couple for the new year, and yes, I realize that I didn’t need to wait until January to do that. Life has been so crazy with school, work, the holidays, etc. and I didn’t want to commit to something that might get quickly set aside and forgotten about during the hustle and bustle that comes this time of year. I thought it would be easier to stick with when I’m so focused on other goals and that’s what everyone is talking about. Plus, it would make a fun New Year’s Eve date night activity.

Improving yourself and improving your relationships is important, but think of the impact having goals that you are working toward together can have. You have an instant accountability buddy and someone who can encourage you to stick to your commitment on days you might be feeling lazy or have better things to do. It will double your chances of succeeding!
I have a few goals in mind for our marriage this coming year and I’m really excited to sit down and discuss them with Joe tomorrow night! Other couples have started couples appreciation journals and after the success we had with our Thankful Jar in November, I thought something like that would be a fun way to carry the gratitude throughout the entire year. I’m big on bucket lists so I thought it might be fun to create one for the year for our marriage in addition to my seasonal date night bucket lists.
