Love Languages Gift Idea for Valentine’s Day

Date

I love this gift idea because it is both meaningful and fun! You can spend as little or as much as you want on your gift, and your spouse is sure to love it! I highly suggest you pick one or two things for each of the love languages for your gift. You could choose to focus on your spouse's top love language(s) if you'd like. But I personally think it's more fun to find something your spouse would enjoy from all five of the love languages.

One of my favorite ways to pick out a gift for my husband is to use his love language. This year I saw a 14 Things I Love About You card/poster that I loved and ordered for my kids and my husband. As soon as I submitted my order, I knew I was going to use each of the love languages in my gifts. That card will serve as the Words of Affirmation portion of my gift. Then I’m tailoring the rest of the pieces of my love language Valentine’s gift to the person I’m gifting to.

Quality Time Valentine’s Gift Ideas

Amazon Explore Tours and Courses: I recently found out about this awesome option on Amazon for taking virtual tours and learning new skills virtually. You can gift someone with an experience that they can schedule and enjoy on their own time. Click here to browse the experiences available and find one your spouse would love. Then plan to join them as they enjoy their experience, to pull in the quality time.

A pre-planned date night: I’m a sucker for a good date night! It’s the way to my heart and one thing I ask for as a gift on a regular basis. Plan a date you know your spouse would love. Line up the babysitter, invite them to a “surprise date night” via your calendar app, and take them out to do all of their favorite things. You could also pick up gift cards, print tickets, or images representing what you’ll do. Then have them help you plan the when so you can make it happen.

The Adventure Challenge: One of my favorite things right now is The Adventure Challenge. They have great products that encourage simple but meaningful quality time and connection. The original Adventure Challenge Couples Edition is a great gift. And their newest version the Dinner Dates Edition is amazing as well. Take it a step further by ordering the Adventure Box which sends you a date night in a box, to go with a challenge from The Couples Edition, once each month. Use code APM10 for 10% off your order. Once you have your books, use them!

Connecting question resources: One piece of quality time that is often overlooked is quality conversation. It isn’t just about being together, it’s about connecting as a couple. Make an effort to connect with your spouse on a deeper level by gifting them some quality conversation starters. Click here for a list of the ones we love most.

Date night box(es): Date night boxes or subscriptions are a really popular gift! I love them because it gives you an already planned date night at least once each month. You can order one that is specific to date night and helps you connect and strengthen your relationship. Or you can pick a box that’s hobby based and just fun, like a craft or baking or mystery box. You can subscribe to receive a new box monthly, or most companies allow one-time box purchases as well. Click here for a list of our very favorite date box companies.

Physical Touch Valentine’s Gift Ideas

Book a couples massage: Quality time and physical touch in one. Schedule time to spend with your spouse, getting the stress and tension massaged away.

Massage oil and a massage from you: Even better than scheduling your partner for a massage is doing that massage for them yourself. My favorite massage oil is the Hemp Infused Body Oil from Coconu (use code APM15 for 15% off your purchase). Pair a massage oil with a coupon for a massage from you.

A soft, fluffy blanket: One of my favorite possessions is my Saranoni blanket. It’s warm, it’s comforting, and it’s one of my happiest places. Chances are if your spouse is a physical touch person, and even if they’re not, they would appreciate a good quality blanket.

Words of Affirmation Valentine Ideas for Spouses

14 Reasons I Love You poster/card: This is the idea that started this whole post. I ordered this scratch-off poster/card and have been filling one out for my husband and both of our kids. I’m really excited to cover my reasons up and have it at the center of each of their gifts.

Pick out the perfect card: One of my favorite things used to be browsing the card aisles whenever I was at the store. Some are sweet and sentimental, others are inappropriate, and the best ones have some kind of joke involved. It’s usually hard for me to pick just one card to give because there are so many that are perfect. Click here to browse some fun ones on Etsy.

Create a playlist: Mix tapes and CDs were the popular romantic gift once upon a time. Now you can create a playlist using an app like Spotify. The benefit to an app versus the physical version is that you can add as many songs to it as you’d like, and continue to add to it as you find more. Create a playlist filled with songs that remind you of the one you love, then share it with them. I think this Spotify keychain is a really fun way to gift your playlist and make it something they treasure and use forever!

Write them a love letter: A simple and free way to cover Words of Affirmation is to pull out a piece of paper and write a love letter. It doesn’t have to be a long letter, but it should be meaningful. Express your love and appreciation for who your spouse is and what they bring to your life.

Acts of Service Vday Gift Ideas

Love coupons: I remember giving my parents coupons for doing the dishes, cleaning their car, and doing other household chores as gifts growing up. These gifts are perfect for your spouse as well! Give them coupons for things they’d love for you to do, but you don’t always like doing. Ultimate Intimacy has a great box of coupon cards you can order and use so you don’t have to come up with them on your own. Click here to order and use code APM at checkout for 15% off your order.

Car wash membership: My husband loves to get gas from a specific gas station because he gets a free car wash when he fills up. I’m not one who washes my car super often, but maybe I should do it more. Find a local car wash and gift your spouse with a membership, punch pass, or gift card for a few washes. There’s nothing as refreshing as climbing into and driving a clean car!

Time with the “honey-do list”: One of my favorite things in Gilmore Girls is how Luke gifts Lorelai with a set number of “handyman hours” each year for her birthday. She makes a list of things she needs to be done and prioritizes them by what needs to be done the most. Put a card in your gift that outlines the hours you’ll spend and any restrictions for when, what, etc. Make sure you are willing to follow through when your spouse is ready and that you do it without complaint.

Receiving Gifts Valentine’s Gift Ideas

Personalized socks: My favorite socks to wear are ones that have my and my husband’s faces on them! I have a pair with our names as well. And I often mix and match the name and face socks to make a fun pair. DivvyUp Socks make high-quality, fun socks that you can personalize with any face, pet, date, name, or phrase.

Matching apparel: My husband isn’t into matching shirts, but I might be able to convince him to do matching socks or hats. I found this shop that has lots of fun gifts for couples. Each item in the shop is unique and ties the two of you together. You could also personalize a shirt, socks, etc. with an inside joke or phrase the two of you use.

Something homemade: Do you have a skill or want to learn a skill that would allow you to handmake your gift? Use your talents to create something your spouse would love! It will mean a lot more because it was handmade, with all of your love.

‘I love you…’ keychain: I went down a keychain rabbit hole online the other day and I’m convinced this is one of the best ideas in this post. This keychain is my very favorite, but you can find many variations that are great as well! ‘I love you most’, ‘Drive safe, I love you’, and personalized versions of the keychains are popular and fun!

Their favorite meal, treat, snack, or drink: The easiest way to fill the receiving gifts spot in your gift is to pick up something you know your spouse loves. This could be a gift card for their favorite restaurant, a favorite drink/snack/treat, something in their favorite color, or even a bouquet of flowers.
