Conversation and Connecting Books for Married Couples

Loom Love Journal

This is a connecting resource that I fell in love with before I even owned it! It’s a weekly journal with prompts and tips that have been carefully curated. The Loom Journal team collaborated with leading marriage therapists to create a resource that would be truly helpful for couples! They have since combined forces with Promptly Journals and the look of the book has changed, but the content is the same as it was before and just as great!

Each of you can take time to write your thoughts on the prompt during the week. Then you can talk together about the prompt and your responses at the end of the week. I love the idea of incorporating your discussion into your weekly marriage meeting. You could also pull the book out at the end of your date night activities each week. Connect Like You Did When You First Met

My friends Tony and Alisa from One Extraordinary Marriage have a great book of connecting questions as well! The goal of their book is to help couples connect in the way they did when they were first dating. Do you remember when you first met your spouse and you’d ask all sorts of questions to get to know each other better? I strongly believe that you can never know too much about your spouse. Working through this book only strengthened that belief for me. Click here to grab your copy.

365 Connecting Questions for Couples

The team at Marriage 365 has put together a truly phenomenal resource for couples! Their Connecting Questions for Couples book is a must have for couples in every stage of life. The way the book is laid out is perfect for tackling one question each day. There is also an index by topic in the back of the book in case you want to have discussions by topic instead of one question each day. Click here to grab your copy.

Other Great Conversation Starter Resources for Couples

Table Topics

This is a resource that was recommended to me by another family life educator while I was doing my internship in college. I immediately grabbed the set of questions for couples, but I also really love the date night set. (It doesn’t hurt that it’s purple and has hearts on it, matching my brand.) Table Topics has many other sets of conversation starters for a variety of situations. You’ll find cards for family dinners, road trips, dinner parties, and more. Click here to check out all of the conversation starter options from Table Topics.

The Ungame

Another recommendation I received from my internship while I was in college. This is not one that I’ve not tried personally yet, but have heard a lot of great things about it. It’s a game, but not one that’s competitive. You both win this game! The prompts in this game will help you get to know yourself and your spouse better. You’ll explore your relationship on a deeper level and have a lot of fun! Click here to grab yours.

Couple Reconnect Game

This is another recommendation that is currently sitting in my Amazon cart, waiting to be purchased. The 200 cards in this set will prompt deep and intimate conversation in your marriage to help you reconnect or connect even deeper. It’s labeled for couples who have been married 10+ years, but I think it would be beneficial regardless of how long you’ve been together. These conversation starters were put together by a psychologist with experience in marriage counseling. There are also sets for families, newlyweds, and dating/engaged couples.
