Grilled Chicken/Turkey Breast – My Favorite Recipe for Summer Barbecues

Date

For as long as I can remember, every time my family hosts a summer party in the backyard, my mom grills turkey (or chicken) breast. When this recipe is on the grill, I'll pick it over a hamburger or hot dog any day! The meat is juicy, flavorful and makes enough for a crowd. If there is enough left at the end of the meal to take home leftovers, the turkey/chicken makes great sandwiches, salads, wraps, etc. It's even yummy cold!

Summer is winding down, and I’m looking forward to the fall temperatures and getting back to my routines. But I’ll miss all of the summer fun! I love the parties, family fun and spontaneous adventures that come with summer. We have at least one big barbecue every month when the weather is warm. And we tend to cook on the grill two or three times a week at home. Every time we have a barbecue with family or friends, burgers and hot dogs are on the menu. They’re easy, cost effective and the classic summer food. But by halfway through the year, I start to get burnt out. That’s why I love this grilled chicken recipe! It’s just as easy, won’t take the entire budget like steaks or ribs will and it’s something that everyone can enjoy.

The recipe above is perfect for a big party with family for friends. I will make half or a quarter batch for smaller gatherings or a regular weeknight dinner. You can serve it with your favorite summer salads, fresh produce from the garden. And any other sides that your family traditionally serves at a barbecue. It is so versatile and so delicious, everyone will go back for seconds and thirds.

Joe and I discovered that we love grilling together early on in our marriage. And we love having family and friends over to enjoy the foods that we grill. When we bought our house four years ago and started building our deck this summer, one of the factors we considered was having family and friends over for summer parties for years to come. I’m dreaming about finishing that deck and planning gatherings with our loved ones next year. You can bet that we’ll throw this chicken on the grill for every single one of those parties, no matter what else is on the menu.
